El Grito Celebration! September 16th

The Washington County Democrats are going to have a booth at the annual El Grito Community Festival! This community festival is presented by Village Without Walls.
This year’s El Grito Community Festival takes place on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 3 pm to 9 pm at the Hillsboro Ballpark, 4450 NE Century Blvd, Hillsboro, OR 97124.
The El Grito holiday on September 16 celebrates Mexican Independence Day, as well as the independence of six other Latin American countries:
- Chile
- Costa Rica
- El Salvador
- Guatemala
- Honduras
- Nicaragua
Mexican Independence Day honors the day Father Miguel Hidalgo, one of the nation’s leaders during the War of Independence in Mexico, made El Grito de la Independencia — the Cry of Independence. It is also known as El Grito de Dolores since it happened in the town of Dolores in the Mexican state of Guanajuato.

Celebrate the vibrant cultures, traditions, and contributions of the Latino communities at El Grito in Hillsboro. A free, family-friendly events with music, dance food, art and connection.
The WashCo Democrats will be there, talking to voters about their priorities and concerns, and sharing our Democratic Party values. Don’t miss the fun!
