Washington County Democratic Party and Indivisible Beaverton Holding Hands Off Venezuela! Rally In Beaverton On January 5th

Press Release: January 4th, 2025

What: We are protesting the illegal, unlawful invasion of Venezuela that took place over this past weekend. This attack, which killed civilians and destroyed homes, is in direct violation of international law and came as a surprise to Congress, with no congressional authorization.
President Trump immediately announced plans for the US to run the country, and to exploit Venezuela’s oil resources for profit. This outrageous invasion and takeover of a sovereign nation demands action, and we are calling on our congressional staff to support a Senate vote this week that will require congressional authorization for any further actions in Venezuela.  And we are calling on all of our Congressional leaders to denounce this illegal abuse of executive power.
 Where: SW Lombard and Farmington, Beaverton
When: Monday, January 5th, 3:30PM – 4:30PM

We feel it is imperative to speak out against actions by the Trump administration that continue to defy our constitution without repercussion, violate international law, and further damage our relationships with our allies and others.
And as people in the US continue to struggle under a worsening economy, the Trump government is using taxpayer funds for these illegal military actions instead of helping Americans, thus causing further pain and suffering.
