Washington County Democratic Party, Indivisible Beaverton And Third Act Oregon Holding No Kings! No Oligarchy! Rally In Beaverton On June 14th
Press Release: June 10, 2025
What: Beaverton area organizations are banding together to practice democracy against the creeping authoritarianism of the Trump administration, while President Trump is preparing for a military parade on Flag Day, his birthday, that is projected to cost taxpayers up to $45 million according to the U.S.Army. As Trump rolls troops and tanks down the streets of D.C., we are pushing back on an administration that continues to enact Executive Orders and propose legislation that dismantles the Federal government while flouting the Constitution. We will not stand for a government that threatens social safety nets, illegally deports immigrants and citizens, and ignores due process. Further attempts to establish an authoritarian rule and police state include detaining international students, levying federal aid & limiting international student applications to universities, illegal ICE arrests, and unlawful deployment of the National Guard. All while supporting tax cuts for the wealthy. We will not tolerate a King in this country.
Speakers include: State Senator Lisa Reynolds, Beaverton Mayor Lacey Beaty, Consolidated Oregon Indivisible Network leader Melinda Fleming, and Washington County Democratic Party Chair Martita Meier.

More info:
We are seeing the effects of the Trump administration’s policies in Oregon communities as food prices rise. The Big Bad Budget bill promotes cuts to grant funding for nonprofits doing essential work, and threatens the social safety net. The bill cuts billions of dollars in student aid and Trump is proposing $12 billion in cuts to the Department of Education.
Our speakers will be addressing these threats in our communities and how they are working to preserve our democracy. Several protests are planned and we feel strongly that it is important to hear people speak up everywhere, from urban to suburban to rural communities. This administration’s chaotic policies have affected all of us. Beaverton is showing dissent, standing up for democracy, and opposing the tyranny of kings.
