WashCo Dems Call to Action: Advocating For Adequate QEM Funding
Since 1999 Oregon has set a goal for a quality education, developed a model (QEM), and determined the cost. Since this process was adopted 25 years ago, the gap between the amount budgeted for education and the QEM budget has been from 19.7% to 38%. The Education Caucus of the Washington County Democrats is collaborating with members of the Clackamas County and Multnomah County caucuses, and individuals from Yamhill County, to monitor the necessary updates to the QEM and to advocate for QEM funding.
We are planning to promote this issue to legislators on the Education Committee during the 2024 short session, in preparation for advocacy with all legislators in the 2025 regular session.
