OP-ED: Updates
by Stan Morrison, Office Committee Volunteer
For something a little different this time, we’ve got an opinion piece in poetry form by Stan Morrison, one of our committed office volunteers:
Updates
news papers are lists of outrages
printed in black on big white pages
reforms never go rapidly but in stages
most crooks don’t end up in cages
many solutions are incompatible
rules of decency are not applicable
divorces never wind up amicable
thinkers i think are quite despicable
lots of tenants end up evictable
these roads no longer are navigable
so few of the areas are still habitable
rich folks’ taxes remain uncollectible
i find that only criminals are electable
climate is way past correctable
humanity is barely detectable
jokes are no longer laughable
faces aren’t photographable
bourbon whiskey isn’t potable
nonsense cliches are forever quotable
channel markers are unsinkable
and the status quo is unthinkable.
a la luna yo me voy!
(translation of last line: I’m going to the moon!)
