On May 4, for our East Washington County Dems Zoom meeting, we will have a chance to talk with Representative Jules Walters about this legislative session.  Among other things, Rep. Walters has joined with Rep. Neron, Senator Woods and other lawmakers to ask that there be a two year moratorium on tolling on 205 – an important and contentious issue.  Many have asked that there be a comprehensive look at transportation planning before these tolls are enacted – please join us to hear more about this important topic.(https://www.wweek.com/news/state/2023/04/27/lawmakers-demand-two-year-pause-on-tolling-i-205/) Rep. Walters will also talk about other pending legislation and the general mood of the legislature.  We are grateful she is taking time to share during these complex times.  Please join us to learn more from her.

We will also take a look at how people continue to be involved between Oregon elections.  With a full year until the 2024 primaries, many are asking how they can continue to make a difference.  Members of Indivisible Cedar Mills have influenced elections around the country through the use of post cards among other things.  They will tell us about some of their projects.  You are invited to share your ideas as well.

Finally, we will get an update on the upcoming election.  Many of you are reaching out to your neighbors, urging them to vote and sharing recommendations of candidates who will reflect our values.  Turnout for these elections is so low —and the impact is so great.  Thank you for helping with this.

As always, all are welcome to join us on Zoom for learning, caring conversation, and community. You can reach out to EWCDems@gmail.com with any questions or comments. We will meet at 6:30 for those who wish a social time with the program beginning at 7 pm on Thursday, May 4, 2023. The zoom link is below:
