The East WashCo Dems Candidate Forum is ONLINE
May 5th, 2022
Hear from Senate District 13 Democratic candidates. This new senate district replaces the old SD13 which was represented by Kim Thatcher.
7:00 PM meeting
Some of you have mentioned to me how hard it was to be represented by Kim Thatcher as your senator. Good news – with redistricting, she is not running and we have two good Democratic candidates in the primary to choose from and then to work for.
On Thursday May 5, East Washington County Dems will have a chance to hear from Senate District 13 Democratic candidates. This new senate district replaces the old SD13 which was represented by Kim Thatcher. It fairly radically changes the boundaries so that it now includes Tigard, Metzger, King City, and Sherwood in Washington County as well as parts of Yamhill County and Wilsonville in Clackamas County.
Both Chelsea King and Aaron Woods bring progressive ideas to this race. Several voters have expressed a wish to hear them talk about their priorities as a way to decide how to vote. I have asked them to lead off with the question we have asked many candidates in our Politicians as People series:
“Tell us a story about something in your life that shapes who you are and how you might govern.”
Please join us to get a chance to meet these candidates. We will also have updates on other races happening in our county. Even if you are not in this district, please join us to hear a discussion of issues and challenges we will face both in the 2022 election and the 2023 legislature. I find I learn so much from hearing dedicated Democrats as they discuss why they are running for office and what they hope to accomplish.
You are welcome to submit questions before the forum at EWCDems@gmail.com. We will use as many as we can in the time we have. For those who wish to look back at the CD6 candidate forum, we had last month (all 2.5 hours of it…) you can find it at EWCDems.us
As always, all are welcome to join us on Zoom for learning, caring conversation, and community. You can reach out to EWCDems@gmail.com with any questions or comments. We will meet at 6:30 for those who wish a social time with the program beginning at 7 pm on May 5, 2022. The zoom link is below.
*****To anyone helping out as a neighborhood leader or on a campaign – thank you for your good work! ****
