Meeting Details
Down in the trenches. Running for local office as a Woman of Color
In this brief talk, Beaverton City Councilor Nadia Hasan and Cornelius City Councilor Angeles Godinez-Valencia will share about their experiences when they made the decision to run for office, and all of the things they experienced and learned along the way.
Nadia Hasan began serving on Beaverton City Council in 2021. She is driven to enable more opportunities for affordable housing, safe routes to school and equal access to transportation and most importantly uplifting the voices that are underrepresented in the community. Nadia believes in a Beaverton that represents all members of the community. We are all stronger together.
Angeles Godinez-Valencia began serving on Cornelius City Council in 2021, and is a Program Manager for Centro Cultural, a nonprofit that offers services for low income Latino families. She develops and facilitates a STEM curriculum that sparks K-12 grade students interest and confidence. As a Latina alumna of the First Lego League and First Tech Challenge, she recognizes the importance of developing programs for under-served communities that engage parents, students, and professionals.
Secondly, a special meeting to vote on endorsements for local city and county elections will take place one week later, on Wednesday, March 2nd! Please make plans now to attend this special meeting. Details here.
Both meetings will be held on Zoom! Please join the Zoom call to get credentialed by 6:30 PM at the latest! We will begin business in earnest at 7:00 p.m for both meetings. Here is the link to join the call:
