From our Chair, Patrick Maguire

Because of delays related to the pandemic, the state party hasn’t been able to provide us the data we need to send emails to all the new PCP’s. For that reason, we can’t hold an official electronic business meeting this month. Without being able to send timely notice to the new PCP’s, it wouldn’t be a proper meeting.

So we will instead hold a live-streamed informal Update Session this month on Wednesday, June 24, 2020, the same way we did last month. Please join us at 7:00 p.m. to learn about the work our committees have been doing to plan for the November election! This update session will be a chance for the Executive Board members to inform the members. Since it is not an official meeting there will not be votes or debates.

We will plan to hold an official electronic Central Committee business meeting starting in July and every month thereafter since we should definitely have the new PCP email addresses ready by then.

A couple of matters I would like you to be aware of:

  1. An election for Second Vice Chair – Your county party is governed by five hard-working officers. The second vice chair has a key role in managing the credentials process and assisting the chair with other party administration tasks. The former second vice chair, Jeremy Likens, has resigned his post and joined a different political party. I thank him for all his help and wish him the best in his new endeavors. According to our bylaws, vacancies in officer positions must be filled at the next Central Committee meeting. So an election will be held at the July Central Committee meeting for the remainder of the term ending November 2020. Please contact me if you are interested in filling this essential role!
  2. Endorsement Committee Member – I will need to appoint a new member of the Endorsements Committee. This is a high-profile role that interacts with our elected leaders to provide recommendations on local nonpartisan endorsements. If you are interested in this role, please let me know!
